#158: Breast Implant Illness with Dr Kirsty Seward
The potential downsides of breast implant surgery are not widely discussed and therefore are often overlooked. Breast augmentation surgery can lead to the onset of a range of health issues, including fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, depression, and joint pain, collectively known as “Breast Implant Illness”. While there is limited data on the condition, as it is not classified as an official diagnosis just yet, many women are coming forward to share their experiences.
In this week's episode, we’re chatting with Dr Kirsty Seward a behavior scientist, dietitian and body image coach with over a decade of experience coaching in the health and wellness space.
Here's what we cover in this episode:
What is Breast Implant Illness and the related symptoms
The emotional decision behind choosing to remove implants
Finding the right surgeon
Post-explant recovery
Body image - how it changed for Kirsty before having implants, while having implants and post-explant
Valuable advice for those considering explant surgery
